An expired tax planning tool for IRA owners is back. In 2011, taxpayers age 70 1/2 or older may make charitable transfers of otherwise taxable distributions from their traditional IRAs and Roth IRAs up to a total of $100,000 per taxpayer, per taxable year. So, rather than adding your required distributions to your taxable income, you can choose to donate those distributions to charity up to $100,000 per year.
These charitable transfers must be made directly from the IRA trustee to the charitable organization and are not otherwise deductible.

Disabilities Foundation of Charleston County, Inc., is the affiliated fundraising organization of the Disabilities Board of Charleston County. It was established to raise additional funds for programs and services of the Disabilities Board, and to develop additional sources of funding to meet immediate, critical needs of individuals and families when no other source of funding is available.

The mission of the Disabilities Foundation of Charleston County is to raise additional funding for the Disabilities Board to provide a wide range of services to individuals having developmental disabilities, autism, head and spinal cord injuries, and related special needs.

Opportunities to assist the Disabilities Foundation of Charleston County in reaching their goals exist through our monthly giving campaign. Disabilities Foundation of Charleston County funds are used to provide for emergency needs of individuals with disabilities. The needs of individuals with limited abilities are great and the request for Disabilities Foundation of Charleston County funds are many.

Programs offered for individual's receiving services from the Disabilities Board are varied. Among the services provided are Early Intervention, Residential Services, Adult Vocational Services, Service Coordination,  Respite, Summer camps, Charles Webb Center, HASCI Community Opportunities, Services for Seniors, and much more.

You can make a difference in the lives of more than 1500 people with disabilities in Charleston County by giving generously.   Thank you for you support... it is because of people like you that individuals with disabilities are no longer apart from the community,  but a part of the community
